Zapp! Productions will continue to look to put on live music where and when possible. Many of the theatres/venues we deal with are still closed for business which means we are as well. I will let you know when this changes.
Jimmy Bowskill and myself are looking into opening a recording studio together in the area and are getting closer to securing a location in Cobourg. If all goes as planned, the studio will be open for digital recording this fall.
We will also be offering full on old school analogue recording. We have secured the same tape machine they used at Chess and Sun Records to make all those legendary Blues, Country and Rock and Roll Recordings. Original Ribbon microphones from the day will be used to ensure an old school, authentic sound.
Like everything Bowskill does, of course he is incredible at producing records. Jim Gaines, one of the top producers of our time, told Jim a decade ago that he should be producing his own albums, he has what it takes. Jim can take your rough ideas and turn them into a song/record for you. He is capable of adding full string arrangements etc.
Some of our friends that will be helping us with this project is multi instrumentalist, juno winner and producer Steve Marriner (Monkeyjunk), Buck Tingley, a true original and Ian McKeown who has toured the world with the Jimmy Bowskill Band and currently holds down bass for Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar. Ken Friesen who has engineered and recorded for The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Levon Helm and Ronnie Hawkins, Jayhawks, Great Big Sea etc will be lending us a hand with the initial set up.
Thanks and be well. Covid measures will be in place in accordance with the Canadian government.
